I have been shooting photographs professionally now for some fifteen years and can truly say that no group of photographs has ever made me feel as much joy as the images captured during a little family session with my closest friend Kristin, Jeff and their eight-month-old son Cecil. Just editing the images to share in this blog post got me teary eyed all over again.
Last November I got word via text that their son had been born and everything was in motion and going smoothly. After nearly ten years of struggling with infertility, it was finally really going to happen, they were going to be parents. The adoption of their son Cecil was on its way to being official and finally all seemed right in the world. It was by far the best news I heard last year.
When I planned my summer trip home to the U.P. of Michigan to visit my folks, I made sure it would coincide with Kristin and Jeff’s visit from Washington state. With all the family photography I’ve been doing, it was simply a no brainer to try to find some time to photograph this amazing new family while we were both in town. These are the results. A family ten years in the making. A family that I love as much as my own. I cannot look at these photographs without feeling like crying and screaming for joy at the same time. Thank you for existing little Cecil and please take care of those parents of yours. They’re pretty wonderful and love you more than you’ll ever know.
